Making the pet beautiful is always a desire for the pet owners, so we try to dress them and décor them as we do ourselves. We would like to make them look pretty in our eyes, but does that mean that dressing the pet is necessary? When it comes to small pets like hamsters, is it okay to dress them and make them look pretty? Let us discuss.

Do hamsters need clothes?

Hamsters actually do not require wearing clothes. They have fur on their skin which saves them from the cold weather and other natural climatic change. The temperature regulation is done through the fur coat and their body is also capable of treating itself with the adjustment of nature.

Can Hamsters Wear-Clothes

Is it okay to put clothes on hamsters?

When it comes to the actual question, do the hamsters need clothes or not, we can assure you that it is not their actual requirement. They have fur coats on them and their internal problems can be cured or taken care of by constant chewing of hay or other elements. They are not supposed to wear clothes in order to accommodate the outer atmosphere.

Do hamsters like to be covered?

Hamsters may not need the cover on their body as well as on their cages. They love to be secluded sometimes but that does not mean that these small rodents will love the extra coverage on them. They rather prefer to be on loose, and close to nature. That is only possible when the hamster is left on the open ground and without much cover on its body.

So when the atmosphere is fine and there is no chill in the air you can just let the rodent be on its own without covering it with clothes or cover on their shelter.

Can you keep the hamster warm by using a cloth?

Hamsters like to be neither in a moderate climate; they neither stay well in hot nor cold weather. So when it is cold you may want to put some cloth on the hamster but that is not a good idea. In fact, keeping the hamster inside the house will be enough to keep it warm and save it from the harsh cold weather.

In the same way, there is no means to use cloth when the weather is warm. The hamster would not prefer to wear something when it is already feeling hot. So you should not try to put clothes on the hamster as that would make it even warmer and that will also suffocate it.

Is it ok if you put a blanket on the hamster?

A blanket is usually put on the shelter of the hamster and not on its body. Many owners think that keeping the blanket in their shelter makes them safe and also helps them to go to sleep. But this is not the reality and the hamster does not sleep when it is dark. They can see in the dark and they only go to sleep when they feel tired. They also do not sleep at the night regularly as they are nocturnal creatures and prefer to stay awake in the nighttime.

In fact, keeping the hamster’s cage with a blanket would rather suffocate them and block the way of fresh oxygen. Thus this habit would do more harm to them than good.

Can hamsters wear cloth when they are cold?

It is the duty of the hamster owners to understand when they are feeling cold. This little rodent usually feels warm when they are actually suffering from cold. They may drink more than usual time, and this is also a sign that it has been affected by the cold. If you do not pay attention to the creature then it would suffer from torpor.

Also, the hamsters have other signs like discharge from the eyes and nose which may indicate that the creature is badly suffering. But keeping it warm does not mean that you have to make it wear cloth. Using a blanket to wrap it and using a heater in the same room will make the atmosphere warm and comfortable for the creature.

Making the hamster wear the cloth will not heal the creature and also does not make it feel comfortable too, as clothes are not natural for them and they rather feel overly covered with the clothing pieces.

Is it cruel for the owner to make the hamster wear cloth?

Hamsters look quite cute in some particular dresses, but that does not mean that the hamsters enjoy their dress. They often feel stuck in their cloth, so if you choose to buy cloth for your hamster make sure that the fabric is soft and natural. Also do not try to put a decorated or too much harsh cloth on your hamster. The little creature may not be able to speak up that they are facing a problem but that will be the real experience of your cute hamster.

So when it comes to the dressing of the hamsters, the owners should remember that this is for their own fun purpose and not for the hamsters. They should not be wearing the clothes all the time and after the fun part is over, they may get anxious and nervous regarding the cloth that they would wear.

How do you make hamster cloth?

Usually, hamsters do not wear any and every kind of cloth, the fabric should be soft and natural for the pets. You can use an old sock to make dress for the hamster. A rectangle can be cut inside the sock which would be 8 inches long and 5 inches in width. The hamster can be put inside the sock through the openings.

The cloth can be made interesting by using different fabrics of random colors. The dress would suit the creature and also the soft fabric of the socks would make the hamster comfortable inside. This dress should be worn when the weather is cold as the hot summer day is not the ideal time to make the hamster wear anything. Their fur layer is enough to make them feel hot in such weather.
